So I am a bit late on this post, but the end of the year was a hectic one, and I am just able to post this today!
2014 brought so many great things to me at Amanda Manthey Photography! I was blessed enough to take TWO newborn workshops (hoping to blog about them at some point, but its been a busy year (more on that later!)!!
One was with Kelley Ryden and Tracy Raver who specialize in warm toned, natural light newborn photography and the other was with Laura Brett who specializes in studio light newborn photography. I learned so much from both of these workshops! I will blog about them separately at some point, but for the sake of time, I will just list a couple of the things that I took away from the experiences. It was great to see first hand what other photographers do for soothing newborns and workflow for pose to pose and general tips and tricks for our specialty! It was also helpful to learn about studio lighting, as I am a natural light photographer, BUT being on location in Hoboken and New York City, I have come against some dark shooting scenarios! Coming up in 2015 – two more newborn workshops! I’m SOOOOO excited!
I also had my busiest year yet! I had SIX times the number of newborns sessions than I did in 2013. I am absolutely humbled by being able to do what I love! Hanging out with these tiny little perfect babies is really so much fun; snuggle time, new baby smell, baby tootsies, long lashes (always the boys – why is that?!?), rolls and wrinkles are just a few of the things that I love about my job! Hoping 2015 brings on even MORE babies!!!
Meeting new families and photographing returning families bring me so much joy as well! I have some of the BEST looking clients in the world – so thanks for making my job easy 🙂 I was informed that some of my jokes needs some work – so I will work on that in 2015 😉
I became a member of the NAPCP (National Association of Professional Child Photographers ) and participated in many online workshops and really filled my 2014 and learned as much as I possibly could. There is so much more to learn of course, as I think if you are doing this right, you are always looking for ways to learn and grow.
Thank you for sticking with me during my journey and supporting me as I continue to follow my passion! I hope 2015 brings both happiness and health to you and your families!!
